,
It has been an absolute grim situation for the entire human race, since the pandemic known as Covid-19 or commonly known as Coronavirus has began. However, there's more to this than meets the eye. Hence, we would discuss a few aspects of Covid-19 to know it better.

(Information source (Covid-19) : World Health Organization/Wikipedia as on 19/04/2020)

What is this virus ?

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses which may cause illness in animals or humans. In humans, several coronaviruses are known to cause respiratory infections ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). COVID-19 is the infectious disease caused by the most recently discovered coronavirus.

This new virus and disease was unknown before the outbreak that began in Wuhan, China. Furthermore, this virus is thought to be natural and have an animal origin, through spillover infection, however the actual origin is still unknown. The majority of cases result in mild symptoms of cold and fever, some progress to viral pneumonia and multi-organ failure.

When did it start ?

At the close of December 2019, the WHO China Country Office was informed of a pneumonia of unknown cause, detected in the city of Wuhan in Hubei province, China. According to the authorities, some patients were operating dealers or vendors in the Huanan Seafood market. Therefore, WHO stayed in close contact with national authorities, and began monitoring the situation and requested further information on the laboratory tests and different diagnoses to be considered.

Human-to-human transmission was confirmed by the WHO and Chinese authorities by 20 January 2020. Thereafter, acknowledging that cases have been reported in five WHO regions in one month, the Committee (WHO) noted that early detection, isolating and treating cases, contact tracing and social distancing measures – in line with the level of risk – can work to interrupt virus spread. Hence, it was declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on 30 January 2020.

To keep a track of genuinely updated cases reported to World Heath Organization, please click on WHO COVID-19 Dashboard. Also, ensure not to fall victim to the rumors, and always authenticate the information before reacting.

I think we should not stretch this too much and consider few other facts as well.

Therefore, below cases/deaths are as per the information reported to WHO till 19/04/2020 02:00 AM Central European Summer Time.

Total cases overtime in the world : 2246291
Total deaths in the world : 152707

Percentage of the people died from the infected : 06.79

In other words, Covid-19 seems to have a fatal rate of 06.79 percent from the infected, which is quite relieving, however this is the result of an enforced global lock-down and even when it is being handled with utmost priority, whereas consider the situation once the lock-down is removed, and we are on our own.

Now, simply imagine the ratio.!

Precisely, if we do not fight it today and somehow the situation becomes uncontrollable in the aftermath, we would only be lost in the thought, of being able to end it in the past. Needless to say, we will have to bear the consequences of our own actions and pray, that the situation does not gets any worse.

How will it end?

It will not, unless we realize that we need to stop it, moreover there is no vaccination to cure Covid-19 yet. Hence, we need to understand its mechanism first.!
This virus primarily spreads between people during close contact, often via small droplets produced by coughing, sneezing, or talking. While these droplets are produced when breathing out, they usually fall to the ground or onto surfaces rather than being infectious over long distances. People may also become infected by touching a contaminated surface and then touching their eyes, nose, or mouth. The virus can survive on surfaces for up to 72 hours (approx.).
Therefore, recommended measures to prevent infection include frequent hand washing, maintaining physical distance from others (especially from those with symptoms), covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue or inner elbow, and keeping unwashed hands away from the face. In other words, follow social distancing, sanitize hands regularly, wear a face mask when needed and maintain hygiene religiously. Also, if possible then help the people in need as well, since not everyone can afford the luxury of food and hygiene in this time of crisis.

Now, why would we consider Covid-19 to be a chapter in history.?

I would share my opinion wherein I am rather inclined to consider the positive aspects first. Ironically, it taught us to respect the environment, to help the ones in need, to stay home and spend time with family, unimaginable but rehabilitation as well for few of us and so on. Otherwise, tell me last time you had seen such an exquisite weather.

However, it also has diabolic aspects which must not be forgotten. The intensity of grief in the world due to loss of lives, this is something which cannot be compensated by any currency in the world. Furthermore, most of the countries are suffering from economical setbacks. Nonetheless, every individual is fighting a battle, which no other person knows of.!

In the end, we are the only ones who can stop it. No one else would do it for us, it is our battle, we must fight and win this together. Also, I am certain that sometime in near future this would a chapter in history, which will either restore or destroy the faith in humanity for our future generations. Hence, I would request everyone to follow the steps, stay home and stay healthy..!

Choose Wisely and Live Freely...Cheers !!!
