It has been an absolute grim situation for the entire human race, since the pandemic known as Covid-19 or commonly known as Coronavirus has began. However, there's more to this than meets the eye. Hence, we would discuss a few aspects of Covid-19 to know it better.

(Information source (Covid-19) : World Health Organization/Wikipedia as on 19/04/2020)

What is this virus ?

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses which may cause illness in animals or humans. In humans, several coronaviruses are known to cause respiratory infections ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). COVID-19 is the infectious disease caused by the most recently discovered coronavirus.

This new virus and disease was unknown before the outbreak that began in Wuhan, China. Furthermore, this virus is thought to be natural and have an animal origin, through spillover infection, however the actual origin is still unknown. The majority of cases result in mild symptoms of cold and fever, some progress to viral pneumonia and multi-organ failure.

When did it start ?

At the close of December 2019, the WHO China Country Office was informed of a pneumonia of unknown cause, detected in the city of Wuhan in Hubei province, China. According to the authorities, some patients were operating dealers or vendors in the Huanan Seafood market. Therefore, WHO stayed in close contact with national authorities, and began monitoring the situation and requested further information on the laboratory tests and different diagnoses to be considered.

Human-to-human transmission was confirmed by the WHO and Chinese authorities by 20 January 2020. Thereafter, acknowledging that cases have been reported in five WHO regions in one month, the Committee (WHO) noted that early detection, isolating and treating cases, contact tracing and social distancing measures – in line with the level of risk – can work to interrupt virus spread. Hence, it was declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on 30 January 2020.

To keep a track of genuinely updated cases reported to World Heath Organization, please click on WHO COVID-19 Dashboard. Also, ensure not to fall victim to the rumors, and always authenticate the information before reacting.

I think we should not stretch this too much and consider few other facts as well.

Therefore, below cases/deaths are as per the information reported to WHO till 19/04/2020 02:00 AM Central European Summer Time.

Total cases overtime in the world : 2246291
Total deaths in the world : 152707

Percentage of the people died from the infected : 06.79

In other words, Covid-19 seems to have a fatal rate of 06.79 percent from the infected, which is quite relieving, however this is the result of an enforced global lock-down and even when it is being handled with utmost priority, whereas consider the situation once the lock-down is removed, and we are on our own.

Now, simply imagine the ratio.!

Precisely, if we do not fight it today and somehow the situation becomes uncontrollable in the aftermath, we would only be lost in the thought, of being able to end it in the past. Needless to say, we will have to bear the consequences of our own actions and pray, that the situation does not gets any worse.

How will it end?

It will not, unless we realize that we need to stop it, moreover there is no vaccination to cure Covid-19 yet. Hence, we need to understand its mechanism first.!
This virus primarily spreads between people during close contact, often via small droplets produced by coughing, sneezing, or talking. While these droplets are produced when breathing out, they usually fall to the ground or onto surfaces rather than being infectious over long distances. People may also become infected by touching a contaminated surface and then touching their eyes, nose, or mouth. The virus can survive on surfaces for up to 72 hours (approx.).
Therefore, recommended measures to prevent infection include frequent hand washing, maintaining physical distance from others (especially from those with symptoms), covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue or inner elbow, and keeping unwashed hands away from the face. In other words, follow social distancing, sanitize hands regularly, wear a face mask when needed and maintain hygiene religiously. Also, if possible then help the people in need as well, since not everyone can afford the luxury of food and hygiene in this time of crisis.

Now, why would we consider Covid-19 to be a chapter in history.?

I would share my opinion wherein I am rather inclined to consider the positive aspects first. Ironically, it taught us to respect the environment, to help the ones in need, to stay home and spend time with family, unimaginable but rehabilitation as well for few of us and so on. Otherwise, tell me last time you had seen such an exquisite weather.

However, it also has diabolic aspects which must not be forgotten. The intensity of grief in the world due to loss of lives, this is something which cannot be compensated by any currency in the world. Furthermore, most of the countries are suffering from economical setbacks. Nonetheless, every individual is fighting a battle, which no other person knows of.!

In the end, we are the only ones who can stop it. No one else would do it for us, it is our battle, we must fight and win this together. Also, I am certain that sometime in near future this would a chapter in history, which will either restore or destroy the faith in humanity for our future generations. Hence, I would request everyone to follow the steps, stay home and stay healthy..!

,

My apologies, for not writing any blog for last few months. However, a recent incident enforced me to write about this aspect, otherwise I thought I would quit writing.

Here's what happened; Few days ago, I was in a lift and there was another person in the lift talking to her mother, rather having a quarrel due to her repeated calls since she was not able to respond to her calls. Long story short, she told her mother to never call again, which may have been out of sheer anger and she may not have intended to reflect such thoughts. However she did that and, I wanted to tell her to talk to her mother nicely but I did not, I do not know why but I didn’t say anything and exited the lift.

I recently lost my mother to a brain stroke and, I would give up anything and everything only to see her call me again. We take our parents for granted, rather believe that nothing can take them away from us, specifically mother. Hence, I would share my thought on this and a few of you may not agree with all of it, please tell me otherwise.

My mother was the perfect mother similar to every mother, however mine was the most polite, courteous, kind, humble, best cook, strongest yet calm and so on(list never ends)….and she was most fond of talking and travelling. Also, she was the most gorgeous women with the most adorable smile in the world, which can be seen in the pictures above as well.

On 17th, December'2019, I was at work when my sister told me that mum has fainted, we called the ambulance and took her to the hospital and she was admitted in ICU, where doctors told me the situation that, there is a clot on the left side of her brain due to which her speech, understanding and the right limbs were not functional anymore, doctors also clarified that there are minor chances of survival and that she might be able to talk, understand or walk again sometime in future, which could be days, weeks, months or even years.

Furthermore, there is only one way to ensure her survival possibility is a little higher and that would be a brain decompression surgery which means, to surgically remove a small piece of her skull to allow space for the brain swelling to avoid further damage and would keep that piece in her stomach for a few months, until she has recovered enough to attach the piece back on the skull. Needless to say, if she survives the pain of those surgeries !

Me and my family decided not to proceed with the surgery, which is by far the most toughest decision I have ever made in my life till now. We were criticized as well since not everyone could understand the reasons, that we could not imprison her to a life of pain and sympathy, even she would not have wanted such a life and I knew my mum very well.

Otherwise, is there anyone who would want such a life? Hence, we left the verdict on our fate wherein she fought even more fiercely than a knight could have for 09 days, before leaving us on 26th, December'2019.

Ironically, even after being prepared for the most improbable verdict, when I was about to wake up the following day after coming the from the cremation ground, I somehow wished for all of this to be a bad dream, and simply wanted her to wake me up, I just wanted to see her face again or to hear her voice. Nonetheless, after waking up I realized that this is not something fate had given me the liberty of anymore. It has been about 03 months now, but nothing can fill that space or make that wish come true.

Why am I telling you all of this?

Given the opportunity to relive the moments with her, I would do things better and I would not think twice before saying “I’m sorry mum”, or rather I would say it out loud that “I love you mum”.

We do not mind apologizing to a lot of people in life without a reason, then why are we reluctant when our parents say something, this person I met in the lift could have ended the conversation with “I’m sorry mum” which would have changed the entire meaning of it.

Have our parents not tolerated us enough, for our unintentional yet uncivilized behavior since childhood?

Today, I take peace in the fact that my mum died a warrior and she was smiling in her last moments (yes, she was). Fortuitously, a few days later I saw her in my dream wherein she looked young, happy and at peace and honestly I also take tranquility in this. This is one of the reasons which gets me thru every single day since then.

Apparently, she also taught me to always smile and have faith that everything happens for a good reason.

I only want to emphasize on the fact that, the only constant aspect of life is inconsistency. We must not take everyone in our life as an immortal or for granted. Although, we cannot keep everyone happy but given the opportunity, never think twice before saying “I’m sorry” to the ones who are closest to your heart and loves you absolutely, we may never know when would be the last moment.

I said it to her when she was in ICU, “I’m sorry mum” (in my own way) to which I do not know if she could even hear me, however I still said it.

Please tell me if what we did was right or wrong? What you would have done? Then think how would you respond the next time when your mum calls you. Particularly, when we are already dealing with a pandemic.

Everyone begins from somewhere, our existence was discovered on our birth. When we knew nothing about this world and the people in it, however we grow up with an impression that this world is everything but not deceptive.

Everyone is taught to live for being better than everyone else and to always act with kindness, but then we get deceived by someone or may find or create a fortune or may think of ourselves as someone above all or even without any reason we just want to oppose our moral code which has been taught to us, and that changes the meaning of life.

There are times when we are inclined to become someone that we are not, or rather someone sightless enough to ignore the consequences of our own actions.

Today, let us discuss about those times, which creates this persona.

Being deceived by someone is very legit reason for changing ourselves, but the conclusion is, that we are only increasing the number by being one of them. No one else should go thru the similar emotions that we already had suffered.

May find a fortune, If someone has found a fortune then it would absolutely change everything for that person, but have we ever realized how all of those people end up destroying their life themselves.  Either its an inheritance or winning a lottery or by committing something unspeakable, all of them pay the price. Please read the history otherwise !

May create a fortune, If someone has created a fortune by own, apparently that person deserves to carry the attitude of being better then the most. Although, people I have seen with such caliber are mostly humble and kind, which is one of the reasons which got them to that point.

May think of ourselves as someone above all, why shouldn't we, if we have enlightened this mere world with our existence, even if it is meaningless then also should we not be proud of it ?. Rather, Pride is the precise word for such people who haven't done anything or can't even do anything themselves apart from whining.

Even without any reason we just want to oppose our moral code, When we are tired of being better all the times, yes I agree we get tired. However, this moral code also strengthens us to be the same as change is good but, not when its worth someone else's happiness.

It is all crap, everything I mentioned above are the most meaningless statements you have read today or you may have already pictured someone with some issues or questioned yourself already.

Have you ever yelled on someone close to you for a small reason, only to show your pride ? I am quite certain everyone has done this only to reflect our demeanor over the other person. However, was it worth doing ?

This is the part which saturates a person from being better to being the same. Otherwise, is there anyone who would appreciate being criticized in above mentioned categories ?

There is always an anchor which hold us to a place and it is timely lifted to move, but it is always carried with us and has to be used whenever needed.

For most of us, this anchor can be a place or a person or an activity or all of it. Think about it, who do we contact or where do we go or what do we do, when we need a sense of belonging or when we seek solitude or just to keep ourselves calm. If, you do not have any, then rethink since every being on this planet has one or multiple anchors to keep themselves connected to the ground.

Personally, even I have many such as my family and my balcony and my plants. They keep me connected to myself so I never forget the reasons why I have to be better than others.

A few may have lost their anchors and finding it difficult to regain the sense of belonging. However, the fact is "It is never lost, rather replaced". Otherwise, find one before you end up going directionless. It is as necessary as breathing !

I have not mentioned friends since they are more likely to be wings which I have discussed previously as "Lifeguard : Friendship !!".

There have been a few amendments into The Motor Vehicle Act, which has been into force from 01st, September’2019 onward. Hence, let us have some discussion on how are they imposed on citizens.

The major amendments that have been done into The Motor Vehicle Act are:-

On not giving way to vehicles engaged in emergency services: A fine of Rs 10,000 or jail term of up to 6 months or both.

Non-wearing of helmet: License suspended for three months with fine of Rs 1,000.

On not wearing seat belt: Fine of Rs 1,000.

On driving without insurance: First mistake of Rs. 2,000 fine and /or up to 3 months in jail. Rs 4,000 fine and/or imprisoned for 3 months for the second time.

Driving without license: Fine of up to Rs 5,000.

Driving without PUC: Fine of Rs 10,000.

Talk on phone while driving: Fine of Rs 5,000.

years and/or a fine of Rs 15,000 for the second time.
Overloading on two-wheeler: Rs 2,000 fine and/or license suspended for 3 months.

Dangerous driving: First time 6 months to 1 year in jail and/or fine up to Rs 1,000-5,000. Jail up to 2 years and/or fine of Rs 10,000 for the second time.

Over speed: For the first time, a fine of RS 1,000-2,000 on light vehicles  and Rs 2,000-4,000 on medium passenger or commercial vehicles. License forfeited for a second time.

Racing and Speeding: Jail up to 1 month and / or fine of Rs 5,000 for the first time. Second jail for up to 1 month and / or fine of up to Rs 10,000.

Previously, there was no law relating to accidents during minors' driving. Now the parent / vehicle owner of the child will be held guilty. Individual will face a fine of 25 thousand rupees and three years in jail. Also, vehicle registration will be canceled for one year. The minor will not be given a driving license before the age of 25.

General invoice: First Rs 100, now Rs 500.

This list does not ends here, there are a lot more. It is ironic but, I personally find it amusing for how people have been reacting towards this entire situation.

I would share an instance wherein I went for a dinner recently and opted to book a cab and not to drive because of the apprehension of violating a traffic rule. Moreover, even the chauffeur was skeptical of violating any traffic rule; he said “I’m afraid that if I may break a rule”, when I asked him to take a turn to avoid long route.

Apparently, I was surprised when I heard about a fine of Rs 22,000 on a two wheeler of worth Rs 15,000. Catalyst, could be the precise word to define, for how imposed this situation has been defined by media wherein they does not even share the specifics of any fine.

Even rallies are being conducted to have these changes removed, wherein I would only agree to one point among all their agendas that is, if a police officer has to be bribed, the bracket for negotiation is incomprehensible.

Hence, what are the ways to ensure, that we do not get into a situation wherein we have to pay a fine or we can skip it with a minimum payment?

First, the vigilance team should be extremely vigilant on not letting police officers take any bribe by any means and to be certain that fines are charged fairly, if possible there should be a way to dispute them immediately.

Second and most important, we must make sure to have all necessary documents and to follow all the rules.

To be honest, it would make the roads safer than ever before. Read the rules again and imagine how smoothly the traffic would run and how, substantially the road accidents would decrease if everyone would start following them and never to forget, this shall even improve the environment. We all have never cared about any rules, since they were always economically convenient to be bought either by bribe or a fine, than to be followed. However, now it would be rather cheaper to follow them for a change.

I am in favor of these changes; in fact I have started following the rules. It is even better, when I see a lot of people following them religiously now.

Do you still find them being imposed? If, yes then please leave your reason in the comments below. Otherwise, it is better to start following the rules. Choose Wisely and Live Freely…Cheers !!!
